Weak Urinary Stream
A weak urinary stream refers to a condition in which the force of urine becomes weaker and does not flow as strongly or as far as it used to.
In Men
-
Most commonly related to the prostate
-
Often begins gradually in the 50s to 60s
If you feel that your urine stream is clearly weaker than before, it is important not to ignore this symptom.
In Women
-
Aging
-
Decreased bladder muscle strength
These factors can also lead to a weaker urinary stream.
When to See a Doctor
-
It takes a long time to finish urinating
-
The urine stream stops and starts
-
You need to strain or push to urinate
➡ If this condition progresses, it may eventually lead to urinary retention, a serious condition in which urine cannot be passed at all.
