超音波検査（エコー）

― 前立腺の大きさと「残尿」を直接確認します

どんな検査？

お腹の上にゼリーを塗り、超音波を当てて行う検査です。
放射線は使わず、体への負担もありません。

何がわかる？

• 前立腺の大きさ（どの程度肥大しているか）
• 膀胱壁の肥厚（壁が厚くなっているか）
• 残尿量（排尿後に膀胱にどれくらい尿が残っているか）

ここが大切

• 前立腺が大きくても症状が軽い人
• それほど大きくなくても残尿が多い人

など、見た目と症状が一致しないケースもあります。
エコーは、治療方針を決めるうえで欠かせない検査です。

👉 痛みはなく、数分で終了します。

Ultrasound Examination (Ultrasound Scan)

Directly checks prostate size and “post-void residual urine”

What kind of test is it?

This test is performed by applying gel to the lower abdomen and using ultrasound waves to examine the body.
It does not use radiation and places no burden on the body.

What can we evaluate?

• Prostate size
  (How enlarged the prostate is)

• Bladder wall thickening
  (Whether the bladder wall has become thickened)

• Post-void residual urine volume
  (How much urine remains in the bladder after urination)

Why is this important?

Some patients have:

• A large prostate but only mild symptoms

• A relatively small prostate but a large amount of residual urine

In other words, symptoms and physical findings do not always match.

Ultrasound examination is therefore an essential test for determining the most appropriate treatment plan.
